Join Passive House Canada, the City of Vancouver and Vancity as we kick off Ice Box Challenge at noon, Thursday, July 27, at Olympic Village Square, Vancouver, BC.
This is the start of an exciting 18-day contest and experiment to demonstrate the benefits of high-performance buildings to Vancouver-area residents.
One small, architect-designed structure is built to code. Another is built to the Passive House Standard. On July 27, we will fill both with equal amounts of ice, seal them and let them sit under the hot summer sun for 18 days.
During that time, we invite the public to submit their best guesses online as to how much ice will be left at the end of the event.
On August 14, we will open the boxes, weigh the ice, and announce the winners.
